Well my network card is 1Gbps and my router is 100Mbps, so the network runs at 100Mbps, which from what i can tell is ample for 1080p+sound as combined data rate is approximately 50Mbps. My one CPU core peaked at 78% while the other one was sitting at about 25%. So i don't see how the cpu is...

i changed to ethernet Cat5e cable, and streaming of Australia and Benjamin Button in 1080p with DTS is still laggy. what would be the differnce in quality if i copy the transcoded file to the PS3? Would there be a loss in quality?

Noted, but it was streaming 720p fine, just when i went to 1080p material did it hang up. I hope thats my only problem.

Ok just got the Mediabridge Ultra HDMI Cat.2 revision 1.3b cable today, ordered via take2. It sure looks the part, very nicely constructed and 28AWG. Will give them a test tonight and see if they make a difference at all. And oh ya, whats the difference between 1.3a and 1.3b? Should i be concerned?
