Just from the device codes it seems like the 650 is probably a 100/120Hz model and the 610 is the standard 50/60Hz model. There might also be a dynamic contrast ratio difference, but not incredible amount. The 650 will probably have motionflow technology or something like that for better...

Good read man. So basically on short lengths any decently constructed cables will do perfectly fine. So no Monsters/QED just yet. It really does seem to be about bragging and branding, but hey, if i could afford it, i would soooo go for the R1600 a shot cable  ;D

gbyleveldt - i even tried it direct from the decoder to the AVR, and there was a minute bit of improvement, but image was still dark. Also i bought a belkin 75ohm coax cable yesterday and tried it, and image improve a bit, but nothing close to what it is when directly connected to the TV...

our site does not have a firmware for my model, however the Austrailian site does have a firmware update for a LA40A6103F model and mine is the LA40A6103R ... wonder if that makes a difference.
