**Wiring two PIEZO HORN TWEETERS 7″ x 3″ to a Technics SU-Z65 Amp**

So, how did the antibarking solutions work out?

Res Ipsa Loquitur-What Hifi is irrelevant.

What Hifi reviews are often idiosyncratic in comparison to other review magazines or sources. By and large, their reviews lack veracity, imho, and so don't be put off by them ignoring your favoured product. That can be taken as a gesture of sour grapes approval. I don't know if Hifi Choice is...

Difference between gel and lead acid batteries

The sa4x4 article is badly written. Can one in fact discharge gel batteries more deeply than liquid electrolyte batteries and do they withstand more charge / discharge cycles?

    Acoustic upgrade

I think you are onto something important here. There are those who claim loudspeaker cables make a difference and those who claim the opposite. Maybe the 'makes a difference' group have bigger ears?

That would be some form of a wire haired dog?

    Artificial intelligence

If you are using intelligence as a criterium, then the robots have been amongst us for many years. They have invaded many areas of social life, e.g. politics.

    How much do cables matter?

I found this statement on the Siltech.com website: "It's a widely known fact that the insulation used to wrap the conductors in audio cables impacts greatly on audio performance. Charging effects and dielectric absorption both act to slow and compress signals, robbing the resulting music of life...

Yamaha Ns-777 Your thoughts for HT?

NS777 is like cheap steak; it fills your plate but the quality is poor. Bentley's are like good quality steak, you remember the quality and flavour for days after eating it. Please don't be fooled by the initial sound of the Yamaha's. You may think they are good but with what are you comparing...

    Car amplifiers for home hifi?

Thanks for your informed comments. I know that it is possible to use car amps but the sound quality is questionable, compared to a domestic power amp, which you have confirmed.

    Car amplifiers for home hifi?

Good day all, I'm interested to know if anyone has made succesful use of a motor car amplifier for a home hifi setup? One would need a separate preamp, depending on what you want to play through the car amp, I suppose? Power supply can be an issue, possibly a lead acid or lithium battery...

    JHB Cable Listening Experiment

I agree with 'training your brain to listen'. I took part in Mark Waldrep's experiment (To Hi-Res or Not to Hig-Res? – Real HD-Audio) in trying to tell high res music apart from Red Book standard and was unable to reliably tell recordings apart from each other. I was listening for the fine...

    Resurrecting blown subwoofers

They must be daft. You can buy a good SVS Subbie for less than half the repair cost. How to lose customers!

    JHB Cable Listening Experiment

I note, with amusement, that there is a heading to each page, in the form of a survey, where one is asked to identify oneself as a 'cabalist' etc. Presumably this was meant as 'cable-ist', based on the definitions given for the other two categories. Possibly, based on misspelling, the author of...

    JHB Cable Listening Experiment

That cabtyre was better than expected but are there any expensive cables that are 1 square mm in diameter? I think more commonly 'good' cables seem to start at 14 AWG or 2.5 sq. mm and work their way down to 10, 11 or 12 AWG. Resistance does matter. By the way, I don't think I've heard a...

    JHB Cable Listening Experiment

The fact that you guys were surprised at how much better than expectation ("thin, flat, muddy") the cabtyre cable was, shows how well you've both swallowed the marketing hype of expensive cable makers. The next cable test, if ever there is one, should be between cabtyre or somebody's diy cable...

    Wharfedale subs? SW-15

I had one about 20 years ago and used it for about 8 years before selling. The auto switch on/off function failed and I had to switch it manually, a difficult operation given the placement of the box under a rack. I could not find anyone in Joburg to repair it. In comparison to the Denon and SVS...

    Rumble Filters

I see this thread went dead in February 2022, so I assume you fixed your problem. Would you mind sharing your solution? I have a tip though for others who may be running into rumble problems. Rumble is typically caused by either acoustic feedback, meaning that the turntable is mounted in such a...
