Fair Price For Acoustic Research AR18

Those speakers looks so good, they look like they were stored in cold storage.  ;D Very good buy. They do have a unique, sort of layed back pleasant sound. Regards. Shamil

    RIP

It is real sad to learn that Andre Hanekom (Skollie) passed on. Deepest condolences to his family and close friends. I purchased a Bang and Olufsen Turntable from him about 2years or more ago, including a Cartridge which he refurbished. Always treasured that cartridge and still have it locked...

Getting the most out of the gear

One point to check on Your vintage turntable is the RCA connectors on the wire, there is seldom any gain in rewiring but replacing the original, often real crap, RCA connectors with good quality Neutrik or compatible RCA connectors will make a big difference, if wire sheating/insulation is...

Getting the most out of the gear

Great post Ingvar. The Pioneer PL12 with Shure M44 and PL25 with a Shure M75 were my first turn tables. Just wanted to add the importance also of a good earth point and a solid and stable surface for the Turn Table to avoid or minimize vibrations reaching the pick-up. Kind regards. Shamil

CD Players Revised - Only to share Info. that may be useful to Forum Members

Before I retire to my workshop, I just wanted to add that the McIntosch did modify the Sanyo CD Mech by replacing the two motors and some Sony parts ( I suspect the actual laser included) were added to make the transport superior to the original one in many ways. One advantage been a much longer...

Some information about the MCD1000 TRANSPORT ISOLATION High power systems with high power woofer systems place greater demands on the CD transport. The MCD1000 is designed to work under these conditions without producing tracking error that must be corrected later down the data stream...

Give Simango a Bell.   I went and downloaded the Service Manual for the McIntosch MCD1000 and low and behold; guess what? They use a Sanyo SF-91 / SF-P101N CD Mech. I am not too sure about the difference between a Sanyo SF-P101N and the Sanyo SF-91-P101N in the McIntosch. What I do...

;D I did not want to get involved in this topic regarding CD Mechs and Transport, again; but just could not resist. I was doing some research on the McIntosch MCD 1000, and it does not have a cheap CD Mech installed in it, but a remodified Linn, the same drive used in their Ikemi Player . I am...

I have nothing further to contribute to this thread. Now that is the most intelligent thing you have said since this post was opened. Why did you waste our time with all your ******** talk as if you are a scientist? Phew!!

    CD Players

:headbanger: Pagan, this is where I  have to tell. This comes out of a Shakespeare Play called the Merchant of Venus where one of the players refer to another as someone who speaks a great deal of nothing.. Have you ever examined the insides of a cheap CD PLAYER and compared with the insides of...
