Reputable Repairer of old Hi Fi equipment in Pretoria area

They do not really have a great reputation around here in Garsfontein. I certainly would not take my stuff there to fix  :flame: Sorry I know I am burning them but a few of my friends have had issues with them, including neighbours. Your choice if you want to use them.

CNC bits & bobs - leave 'em here [donate or flog]

I might have a Raspberry Pi 0 W lying in a drawer somewhere which I assume you can use for a controller.

But that is not any fun at all...

    Bandsaw

I didnt want to wait anymore and got the Einhell. Its not fantastic quality but not the worst either. The table is decent thickness metal, the blade runs straight and it is quiet. Played a bit with it and also seem to cut reasonably accurate. I did see a kind of bumpy cut - the cut is not super...

    Bandsaw

I REALLY like the Metabo but those small differences are not worth ~R2000 extra on this size machine in my opinion. For another R2000 odd, I can get a 14" saw and I do not have the space that.

    Bandsaw

The Einhell has a decent price. It does have a narrower cutting width than the Ryobi and Jet. The Ryobi has a higher wattage motor but I have a feeling that the 350W motor will probably be less efficient than the 250W of the Einhell... I am leaning towards the Jet but if its not available I'll...

    Bandsaw

I want to get a bandsaw but only have space for a small bench type. Like the Ryobi or Einhell. Does anyone know of a different make at a decent price? Not a fan of Ryobi in general but its not as bad as powerstar... Opinions on these? Ryobi ~R3800...

    Sennheiser HD515 lockdown fix

My awesome headphones failed me... not electrically (the drivers work perfectly) the ear pads foam disintegrated completely... As in it became a fine powder that sticks everywhere. Horrible feeling between your ears and head  :cr@p: The local Sennheiser people says that the earpads are...

    DIY projects, 4 week deadline

My current project is taking ALL my time... my co-workers - who are 12 and 3 - have to be kept busy all the time. That is a serious project with impossible milestones. Deliverables are guaranteed to fail. My other project is to finish 2 new movable workbenches [emoji16] Sent from my SM-G973F...

    And more snake oil?

I'll cut a piece of copper rod and replace your fuse with that. It will probably sound a lot better... just dont use a piece of bloudraad... that will make it sound kommin...[emoji16] Sent from my SM-G973F using Tapatalk

Restoring a Telequipment D43 valve oscilloscope

Old friend of mine (unfortunately passed away years ago), forgot to plug that bad boy back into the tube after the repair. He switched on and leaned in when he heard the electric crackling of electricity, not realising the high voltage was dangling by his thigh. Those old Philips TV's had some...

    MEMS drivers

Its very new apparently. It would seem that these types of drivers will mostly be used for tweeters and can be used in headphones as well. Very interesting development...

    Barbie-Hack-Headphone-Amp

I like the "dangerous PCB" look I have going at the moment. Looks like I am busy with "stuff" and idiots with fingers who like poking can then be scared of touching it. I'll add a nice touch sensitive 220Vac input to the PSU

    Barbie-Hack-Headphone-Amp

My daughter  had this portable radio which she decorated with Barbie stickers . It fell some time in its short life and the CD stopped working. Actually the whole thing stopped working and was "packed" in the karakas (without the "r") cupboard. It was still there on Sunday when...

    2-way build

Thanks Everyone!  The sound is great! I like to use Chris Isaac's Somebody's Crying song to listen to speakers (Lots of guitar, lovely bass, quick drums and of course the vocals) The bass is deep (fs = 32Hz), fast yet still have punch behind it, mids and highs are clear but not harsh...
