    Any gamer setups?

I've found that some games that don't support Dolby Surround, do support PCM surround sound if you change your Windows settings within the sound option in the control panel. Set it up to match your AVR setup, 5.1, 7.1 etc

    Any gamer setups?

I have to admit, I'm clueless when it comes to headsets and headphones, I always used speakers or my hifi at the time.

    Any gamer setups?

:ROFLMAO: And lugging those 17" CRT screens, beige boxes, speakers, cables, CDs etc to your mates house for a weekend LAN party. My non-gaming mates used to call it nerd herding.. These incredible LAN party photos remind us how much work it used to be to play games together

    Any gamer setups?

:) I'm not the gamer I once was, the late 80's up to the early 2000's was the peak for me. Warcraft 1+2+3, Doom 1+2, Duke 3D, Quake 1+2+3, Starcraft, Diablo 1+2, Shadow Warrior, Need for Speed 2 etc were the games we used to play the most. My son has taken over that role now, he just uses a bog...

Another thing to look at, are your speakers set to "Large" in the AVR setup?

Advice sought - AV receiver to power B&W 683 S2

Hi Thasegan, Welcome to the forums. B&W speakers are traditionally difficult to drive, not all models, but your 683s having dual 6.5" woofers in each speaker will need some current to drive them properly. The Onkyo 6100 is rated at 100W/channel with 2 channels driven, but the transformers in...

Building a Yuich Arai 290 Horn (or two)

Yup, for sure! Even plain old MDF has almost doubled in price since pre-covid days. Birchply still looks really nice for horns.

    Subwoofer enclosure design

:ROFLMAO: For sure! She'll be ecstatic when I move some of her furniture out to make space for it. Im gonna make a huge ~400-500L 15" dual opposed sub, but gonna make it as a piece of furniture so it's "invisible" Unfortunately, this one won't fit under the piano like the current one. Gonna try...

    Best 4k movie visually...?

I just wish there was more V12 Merlin action from the Mustang, would've sounded amazing in ATMOS.

    Best 4k movie visually...?

Definitely! Dune (2021) and Blade Runner 2049 are my two reference movies, visually and sonically.

Building a Yuich Arai 290 Horn (or two)

Awesome! Looking forward to this build. Are you going to use plywood or do you have something more exotic?

I found these resources for designing sub enclosures. They've got good detail without getting too technical, definitely worth reading if you're thinking of building your own box. NAD 3020 as a pre-amplifier - is it any good?

It is a really cool feature of the NAD integrated amps, having the pre-amp jumpers to the power amp section. I've used the feature a couple of times on my C320 for parties. Another option is to use the pre-amp output to drive a powered sub if you're running bookshelves. Use a two male RCA to one...

mygoggie's venture in the world of hybrid electrical systems

I think a 2kW genny may just be too small. I have a 5kW genny connected through the gen/aux port and it works well. I've set it to charge the battery with 1kW and provide the loads with 1kW. If I go much higher than about 3kW total from the gen, the gen starts taking strain. I only use the gen...

To add 2 x speakers to 5.1 home theatre (with existing room & placement limitations) or not ?

If you do decide to go for the height route, treat yourself to the ATMOS versions of (amongst others) Blade Runner 2049, Dune (2021), Ford vs Ferrari and Gravity.

To add 2 x speakers to 5.1 home theatre (with existing room & placement limitations) or not ?

Having side and rear surrounds work well in a bigger space. In a smaller space such as yours, there isn't really enough distance between the side and rear speakers to be able to discern the channel separation. I'd definitely rather place them as height speakers. Place them about a metre closer...

:) Well, he's gone AWOL, clearly just wanted to buy/sell stuff, exactly the reason for the 50 posts.

How many panels - question for experienced users

The inverter allows you to have more PV than what it can supply on the essentials side. Assuming the panels are running at 100% of their rated capacity, if you have 6500W of PV, the inverter can supply 5000W max to the essentials side, the excess 1500W can be used to charge the batteries or feed...

Help with a 5Kw good system both cost wise and product wise

There are a few solar shops at no.1 Press ave, Crown Mines. I wouldn't buy any panels, batteries, inverters etc from them as I very much doubt you'll get any support or warranty from them. For small items such as wiring, breakers, fuses etc, they're fine. If you do buy battery cable from any of...
