Got a griffin beacon earlier today and had the same problems.
If you download the griffin utility app there is an upgrade for the Griffin Beacon.
Once the unit is upgraded the Dijit app can be used in the learning mode. Did take a couple of attempts on some keys but sorted in about 15 mins.
