Suitable method of affixing vehicle badge/decal onto vehicle

Sav is correct, 3M VHB, preferably with a specialised primer. The super glue approach is classic low cost “making a plan” but certainly not OEM spec. There are also a raft of low cost alternative tapes which may/may not work. We carry a wide range of these tapes, the only problem is a roll is...

    Speaker Hiss

Hi F_D It's a Conrad Johnson PV5. The tube in question is in position V8 (sorry my mistake not V4) and is a 5965. I have swapped between the two in the V8 position and the hiss remains. The tubes have also been tested and they both tested as ok.

    Speaker Hiss

Ok so this is getting long in the tooth. My amp developed a serious low-frequency distortion which needed attention. The tube set has been tested, where necessary the tubes have been replaced. The issue remained - so off it went to a reputable technician who looked at it and replaced a small...

Any young audiophiles out there ?

33 (don't know how young that is) But at this stage I only have an analogue system: Project Xperience ---> Conrad Johnson PV5 ---> Audio Research D130 ---> Dali Ikon 6's mk1 Running a range of interconnects, from Gecko's to Chord Clearway on the speakers. Most of it has been procured through...

    Valve testing and replacement

Good question, initially a pronounced hiss. But I wasn't convinced, this has now progressed to an acute distortion. I should mention the amp was serviced 6 months ago by a recommended tech from here

    Valve testing and replacement

Thank you, 2 X 12ax7 4 x 5751 2 x 5965 Will need to test the current batch and see. At this stage it's a strong guess that the tubes have given up but it could be the sockets

    Valve testing and replacement

I'm heading down the road of needing some new rectifiers for my CJ PV5. Any local (Greenside JHB) who would be able to test my currents and assist with replacements? Would prefer to support local Many thanks  :pleasant:

    Speaker Hiss

Ok have it a shot, seems to make no difference, as a note the only source is the phono, but across inputs/phono disconnected the hiss is the same with volume My thinking is this is a tube issue, surprised I haven't heard it before, did the new cables reveal something? It seems like it

    Speaker Hiss

So if I disconnect the TT the hiss should theoretically decrease? If not the it must be the pre?

    Speaker Hiss

Thanks all, First off just to say everyone on here is so helpful it's a wonderful resource So just to confirm a couple of questions - the hiss is coming from the tweeters (ribbon) - the hiss is almost inaudible on the power amp, as soon as the pre is on it becomes loud and noticeable -I...

Hey guys, So my analogue setup, record player>pre amp (tube)>power amp (solid state)>speakers Just changed speaker cable from tricore power cord to chord clearway. All other interconnects are good quality. Pre amp has just been serviced I've developed a hiss immediately after changing...

    Speaker coil swell

After taking the drivers to the repair specialists in Germiston I have a bit more context to share After opening up the drivers, the repair team reached out to me. Most of these guys are relatively hesitant to surmise what the cause can be (as one can see from this thread alone there can be a...

Finest drumming on a studio album

There's a reason Bonham's name keep coming up, feel, groove and power - he rewrote the game on drumming. Without sounding like he was trying too hard, Bonham managed to find a unique sound and style, not easy on a pitchless instrument, but truly endowed with a natural gift like no other, a...

I will make double sure by taking the amp in for a service, as its about time she had a once over. For...
