Can you recall if your dad supplied stands to "Sounds Great" back in the day? For some reason Durand sounds familiar to me. I used to work as a salesman at Sounds Great and we had a local gent who custom made our speaker and AV stands.

it's not the proverbial "walk in the park" - it requires heating to soften the "seam" and firm pressure to open a gap large enough for a "spudger" to pry open. There's a tiny ribbon cable that needs to be disconnected, and after that the 2 pcb's need to clipped apart for access to the battery...
