    Sub Woofer Set up Tip

I've not tried this and probably won't but picked up this tip in case your seating position is in a "null" bass position in the room - ie. you don't hear the bass (or feel it) PLace the sub in your SEATING position, run the sub and walk around the room until where you hear/feel the bass the...

Classic Car Fraud - A treat for car lovers

Spoiler, this is a Documentary type video from Jayem on Cars which I follow on Youtube. It's LONG - just under 2 hrs but worth the watch, if like me, you have any interest in cars, classic cars and most of all, Jaguar. Grab a cup of Earl Grey, custard tarts and Enjoy.

What to consider for a Power Amp

I see it does get complicated. Right now, I haven't decided if I want to go down this route and if I'm serious, probably going to a stereo amp driving stereo speakers would be best. In all honesty, I have noticed a marked difference in the manner in which an AVR (in pure direct) and integrated...

Cars that were tuned in South Africa

I'll take the F Type anyday. Some anecdotal information on the BMW 745i. One could say that South Africa was responsibe for the first M7 ! Back in the 80's, The 745i was released in South Africa and Germany only. USA didn't get it. Anyway, the European versions were LHD and ours had to be RHD...

    Please Help with some Advice

Get your incoming supply checked mate. At my house the volatage is always stable 238-239 V. On the rare occasion it will go to 237 or 239. Almost never about 239.

    Please Help with some Advice

Get one of these from Makro or whereever and plug the amp into it. It will take the guesswork out of what's coming to the amp.

    Local vs international

South Africa has produced some marvelous local speakers. Speakers are inherently repairable unless I'm sure it's really high end. I owned a pair of Monitor Acoustics (don't bother googling this) MA1000's from 1993 to 2010 and it gave me 17 years of wonderful service. Went to Australia with me...

What to consider for a Power Amp

Thanks for the advice guys. It's appreciated. This is an area I never delved into before. The point on the pre outs being a potential weakness - never considered that. From an amplification perspective, the major difference between the 810 and 3050 is obviously the power. DAC's different but...

What to consider for a Power Amp

What a perspicuous explanation. Thanks Tonte. This explains misconceptions of how the set up would have worked and I'll take all these into account. I don't have the budget for monoblocks. The two cheapest power amps I've seen (new) is R18K (NAD). I'll scour the forums as well.

What to consider for a Power Amp

I have a set of small Boston Acoustic speakers coupled with the Yamaha RX A810 and did an experiment of coupling said speakers with a much larger RX 3050 with the expectation that it would make no difference as the speakers are small and more than adequate for the 810 and was amazed that the...

Cars that were tuned in South Africa

I think the same could be said for many M3's. These engines took a beating. I'll never buy a 2nd had performance car as you never know how the previous owners treated it One doesn't necessarily buy an M3 (or RXI) to do the school run.
