    New TV advice please

So I'm looking for a new tv, a 65" for around R10k. The Hisense 65E7N Pro looks good at R11k at Tafelberg. 144hz refresh rate and Qled. I've not had any experience with Hisense. Any thoughts? Thanks!

    Car Battery Disconnection

I use Optimates on the boat. One is mid range, so does some smart recovery stuff apparently, the other is a very basic Optimate. I swop them between the batteries every few weeks. I've heard the C-Teks are better. I also have a National Luna smart charger, that can do fast charging and...

    Car Battery Disconnection

Agreed, I keep my boat batteries on smart chargers all year, works very well. You don't need to disconnect the battery before you put the charger on, just put it on. That way you keep the computer memory and clock etc. going.

    Estate agent commission?

Just a comment on selling privately, from my experience. One downside is that the buyers tend to feel that the saving on comm should be shared between both parties. I.e. they know how much you are saving in comm, so they make offers based on that. The other downside is that if you are dealing...

    Estate agent commission?

Ja, I sold at the end of 2022, and 3 to 3.5 % was the unofficial going rate. This is in CT southern suburbs. I ended up selling it myself, which in a buoyant market is not very difficult. The trick is to get a good conveyancer on your side. I got tons of free advice, based on the transfer...

    R1 million for Landcruiser 76

I'm in the mining industry and a little while ago I spent a few months building a copper mine in the DRC. This was 50% Chinese owned, so all the structural steel and other materials came out of China as far as possible, and a lot of the mechanical processing equipment. The contractors were all...

Is it worth switching car tracker services?

Thanks for the feedback, it makes sense. Particularly when you consider hijacking.

Is it worth switching car tracker services?

In your case do you not think it would have been better to be paid out when they didn't recover it, and not have a repaired car, or would you have lost more money with a pay out and therefore the recovery was better? I know that "market related" replacement values are not always so great. Often...

Is it worth switching car tracker services?

Yes, I'm also interested in whether they can use this info to deny a claim. A friend tells me they can't do this, if you drive through a red robot by mistake, is this not considered an accident? Although it is still an offence and you have broken the law? I refused the Discovery tracker, but...

Suitable 24V charger of for garage door motor

I've previously replied, but it seemed to have disappeared.. Just keep in mind if you do go solar/inverter in the future, you won't need the back up for the door. Might be best to put the money towards that if it's something you are thinkin of doing.

    Dangerous times.

Yes, I've always found this amazing: "It (the US Navy) is the largest and most powerful navy in the world, with the estimated tonnage of its active battle fleet alone exceeding the next 13 navies combined" Source is Wikipedia Not to mention the 2600ish active aircraft. This is just naval...

    Pre-Natis vehicle registration Certificate: validity?

Thanks for the feedback. Just an update, he managed to transfer the car from the old man to me, but first had to get an afridavit from the old man agreeing to this. Apparently the Mossel Bay police actually went to the old age home to collect this for them! Of course the engine number was...

    Pre-Natis vehicle registration Certificate: validity?

Hello All, I'm trying to buy a car that has been owned by the current owner since 1993, and only has a pre-Natis registration certificate. Will I be able to transfer this onto my name? I'm told they will want the current owner to apply for a replacement Natis certificate first, and this must be...

    Steep driveway, low slung car

A colleague of mine had a Lotus Esprit many years ago, he said it was perfect for a weekend away, the "boot" was just big enough for a case of beer and a bikini bottom.
