Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

I am happy to report that I am about 75% complete. The latest changes have been rearranging the couches to make it fit our needs, and finally, I have put in the 4x atmos speakers. They are cheap in-ceiling speakers, but they do their "atmos'thing" well enough. The wiring along the roof has also...

Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

There are nulls in the room, but I've been able to tune the subs to sound good at the main listening position and good enough at the other seats. The back row is on a wooden riser that vibrates enough to give the back seats extra "punch." When content is playing, no one is close to the corners...

Another DIY targa home sub build

I didn't keep any of the specs I used, but I do remember that I could not find any specifications for the exact sub I had, so I used one as close as I thought would be fine. It was a sealed design. Here is a photo of the driver. It was nothing fancy as I was in the process of moving, and I...

Another DIY targa home sub build

I've previously try to build a diy sub from a 15 inch Star sound and was never able to get it to sound good, my family said it sounds fine but what do they know 😆 I even used my Umik1 and mini dsp, it just was way to boomy, inaccurate bass. But very loud. Not saying the Targa won't get good...

Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

I did run a router along the edges, not shure if that counts as flaring? But no chaffing so far What size is the box?

Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

With some delays I got to finishing my new subs, 2x dayton audio ultimax 12. It is the hammer from Steve at Home Theatre Gurus (seeing as he designed my room it felt right to use his sub design). They run off of two Crown amps, xls1502 and xls 1500. Still need to fine tune the frequencies...

Subwoofer for my Bentley Acoustics Setup

I built a DIY setup for subs. 2x Dayton 12 inch subs running from Crown amps. Cost R14k for the box and drivers. Scouted a long time for the two crown amps on market place, R4k for xls1502 and R3k for xls1500. So R21k total

Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

That is best to have 1 row of seats for the space, I am squeezing 2 rows a bit so I had to settle for 100 inches, and that is too immersive for some but I enjoy it. Do you manage the subs with Minidsp or let the receiver handle it? I have the minidsp HD to fine-tune the subs

Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

The idea is to put some absorption panels on the roof to address the reflection from the roof. In the end, there will be no air gaps on the false wall, only the equipment rack will have gaps. I figure 4 atmos channels is the sweet spot, more than that gives no real benifit.

Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

Good eye, I asked Steve to design with future upgrades in mind and he suggested the mid front as the best upgrade from my 7.2.4 setup, but that will require a 13 channel plus receiver so it will be done someday, I actually already have the speakers for them lol. Are you running two rows with an...

Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

Thanks, I will stuff loads of the acoustic material in between the gaps to have as few gaps as possible. I prioritized room treatment, that is what will give it the edge over a non dedicated room, but takes the small things to add up to the overall effect

Home Cinema build - Dedicated room (50% complete)

I will use this platform to document my home theatre build and post my progress, I have no professional experience and everything will be self-taught and there is no timeline (money will dictate that). And of course, a build like this is never truly complete, there will always be an upgrade to...

    Introductions Thread

Hi, my name is Mauritz and I have a soundbar... But not only a soundbar. So I have been on AVforums for a long time, but was never really involved in discussions. But now is as good a time as ever to post my introduction I have a website where I sell banana plugs. (I will post in the...

In search of a Epson TW9400 projector

That is true, I initially thought great I'll just look for the cheapest option. But I contacted all of the suppliers I could find, none have stock. Meaning they are prepared to take the order but cannot give me a ETA or even guarantee stock in the future

In search of a Epson TW9400 projector

My Epson TW9200 gave in and I am looking to replace it with a TW9400, but stock is non-existent and there is no ETA on backorders. What is worse is it seems Epson is discontinuing the TW9400, probably to make way for the laser projectors. But it leaves a large gap in the price range of TW9400...

Proudly South African - My transition to Bentley Acoustics Story

I am the proud owner of 3 fs150 for my LCR. Yeah it is overkill but I like uniformity and I enjoy the balanced sound stage Note: build still in progress
