    6x9 Surround sound build

My bad, sorry, it's Metro, not Makro! Probably not a grille by it's true definition I guess, just a nice smooth piece of wood as below with plenty of tension on the fabric. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

    6x9 Surround sound build

Thx! Yup, same pressed wood as box routered, sealed, sanded, sealed, sanded, painted and covered with "speaker cover" material from Makro... they will know what it is if you ask for it!  ;)

    6x9 Surround sound build

Hi! Thought I'd share my Easter weekend surround sound project with you all. Nothing spectacular, but bought these 6x9's for my car, and long story short, decided not to use them and the shop would not take them back, so I decided to put em to good use!  :winkwink: Great upgrade and difference...

    Bi-Wire Cable build

Thx Stereo! I checked, my amp (Yamaha RX-V2700) have only 2 pins on the "kettle" power connector, thus no earth to ground, so I don't think earthing will do anything?

    Bi-Wire Cable build

Thx Atjan, hehe! Creative story! Watched a video today on a "audio myths workshop" held in US. Silly what marketers come up with! ...and to be honost; I can not hear a difference! (But dig the look!)  I got it from Kutting. If you need contact info, feel free to PM me. Regards, Kobus

    Bi-Wire Cable build

Thx AudioBug! Shh  :-X ... but I got a short piece at work! They order it from Hellermanntyton direct. My original idea was to use this for the whole cable but then got hold of the stainless braiding @ R17-50p/m which I think is cheaper that the black vinyl ones!!

    Bi-Wire Cable build

Thx Silver! Noob question; but do I need to earth the bread? Does it attract interference then? As for other question, already answered to Jimgore while you posted  ;)

    Bi-Wire Cable build

Thx Jim! It is quite industrial!!  ;) It's 3/8" stainless steel braiding used to cover and protect hydraulic hoses!

    Bi-Wire Cable build

Connecting the Banana's, pulled over end braiding and shrink wrap together to result in the final product! Changed amp setting to bi-amp and whallah!

    Bi-Wire Cable build

Hi! As my first contrubution to the DIY discussion; here are my budget bi-wire 2x5m cable pair built for under R350! And in under 3 hours, so do not expect too much or judge me for selection of cable at the local flea market!  ;D May I add it is quite heavy duty!  ;) Herewith then my pics:

HELP! YAMAHA BD-S1065: Region free code

Thx AE! This makes sense now. Phoned S&I and the guy basically said the same: that they can send it to the factory and see if they can do this (as it is a hardware/programming issue), but seemed reluctant as this might get them in trouble... But I doubt if you can unlock it separate for DVD...

HELP! YAMAHA BD-S1065: Region free code

I bought it second hand, private... Local Yamaha agent, as far as I know, is Sound and Image. Will try them, but it is not exactly legal to make a player region free, so have been reluctant to ask!  ;D

Anybody? ... or maybe nobody else has one of these  :-\

Oh no, plasma red spots of death...

Hi Juggy, My dads LG PQ42 does the same. Only when it gets hot though - after power on for +- 1.5 hours? Ive seen there is actually an image (sometimes) in the red blur, so has something to do with image memory, but it is definitely not burnt in. Yours the same? Can they fix it? Attached some pics:

HELP! YAMAHA BD-S1065: Region free code

Hi Fellow members, I recently bought a Yamaha BD-S1065 and was surprised that it would not play my Region 1 DVD... With experience from my previous DVD player I confidently entered the interweb in seach of one, but witout ANY success  :'( Has anybody figured this out yet or is there simply not...

    Members' Kit pics

Thx Naughty! I'm still battling with myself around this! 686 rears was my first option, but after I couldn't find any 2nd hand yet, I though of rather spending the money on floorstanders... still very indecisive about this. What would be the benefit of good speaker stands? Get them further...

    Members' Kit pics

Hi there! Decided to show my humble setup which is sort of still in progress (...and possibly always will be!) Running HD from my PC with wireless keyboard + mouse, and also network router to my PC and Network amp. Components: - Yamaha RX-V2700 - B&W 685 front - Wharfedale SW-150 - DIY Center...

    Dayton Titanic Mk3 15" build

Excellent build Robert! I'm now thinking of building a tube and convert my square box sub! What material did you use on the outside? And did you apply it directly to the wood? Thx for a great post!
