    favourite listening chair?

Please post pics of your favourite listening chair. I'm setting up my study as a listening room. Currently I'm using a bar stool, which is not ideal, especially for listening longer than 20 mins. So I need some inspiration - is there anything I should be avoiding? Someone said big headrests...

    good songs for auditions

Hi all What are you favourite songs to take along when auditioning new systems or parts? And what do you listen out for in each song? Is there a technical checklist you work through, or is it more a "feeling" that decides whether take it? How do you choose the parts you do? :)

The internet says to fill them with sand.

Wouldn't be the first time I've done something dumb :) From what I can tell, the speakers have been designed to be filled with sand (tannoy mx3). There's a little bung at the back which I assume one fills using a funnel. Any particular sand work best?

cleaning advice: handy andy on box tape glue?

@Byrd, @mafioso: that's (polysty)Rex, the best woofer. The body corporate don't allow real dogs. Why not send me your wife's number, Byrd? I'm more than happy to show her the bedroom in person. ;)

Thank you!    Mr Min: 1, Gunk: 0 Letting it soak made it easy. @Byrd- ha ha: yeah, checked the tape was definitely gone :) Have made that particular mistake a few more times than is comfortable admitting.

cleaning advice: handy andy on box tape glue?

Does anyone have advice for removing box tape glue/residue from the sides of speakers? They look to be be made of melamine or something melamine-like. I've been trying sunlight soap and hot water, hand sanitiser, staring, without much luck. Would it be safe to use handyandy? I'm worried it...

Advice on a preamp: HK3480 with Jamo S506's

Yeah, the HK is not short of power, but I'd like to be able to tweak the sound a bit, experiment with the equalization, tonal variance. The HK just adds oomph, it doesn't let you change the colour of the signal. "Preamp" might be the wrong word? So much to learn :) Sources are cd and ipod.

Advice on a preamp: HK3480 with Jamo S506's

Hawwow! I've got a HK3480 running some Jamo S506's at home, and would like to experiment with a preamp, to see what all the fuss is about. Can anyone recommend a preamp that works well with the above? I'm a noob with a limited budget in cape town. Cheers all!

    Introductions Thread

Had I known what hunger that first HK Play&Go was about to awaken, I would have run from the shop, thumbs solidly wedged into my ears, all the way up to the knuckles. But I stood immobile, feet, tapping, rooted to the spot. The most I could manage was an awkward head swivel as my ears and...
