Small, simple, but good sounding system

It was just an option, as it puts out the right power at the right impedance. i like options and not just going blind. anyhows, i might be getting some good deals on stuff, so thank you guys, the help was invaluable.

Okay, so how does this sound? The Sony 540 i can get for around R2900.. http://www.sony.co.za/product/str-dh540 and matched with either the missions mv-8's or the wharfedale 10.6's?

The sony is an option. I dont want to go ht at all, except for maybe adding a sub. If i get floorstanders though, i probably wont get the sub. I plan to stay in stereo. Andre, do you live or did you live in alberton? Did you sell your focals? If so, i think i might be the one who bought them...

Small, simple, but good sounding system

Well, i believe in buying the best in one's budget. I obviously have to rely on other's opinions though, as im (almost) clueless when it comes to home audio. I have Focal car audio, speakers and amp, and i love that its neutral. so thats what im looking for. So if those Missions are neutral...

Well someone has offered me a pair of Mission MV-8 floorstanders... and they're 8ohm... are they better than the wharfedales? im lost when it comes to home audio.. otherwise i wouldnt be on here! Though when it comes to the amp, i'd prefer to buy new, only because its electronics!

Will the 10.1's with the Sony STR-DH130 really work fine? Shouldn't i worry about the impedence mismatch? Is there not maybe another receiver to look at then? I have looked in teh classifieds, but havent seen anything in my budget really. Well, not close to home. Thanks, but its quite a bit out...

Yeah, the 10.1 and 10.6 are definitely 6 ohm. But i would rather not take a chance on the amp to be honest. Where can one get the 10.1's for 1k? I have seen the 10.6 for R2700 incl shipping.. And maybe loud was the wrong wording. I would like it to play at a respectable level as this is for...

Yeah.. budget, max R3500. For speakers and amp/receiver. I see takealot has the wharfedale 10.1's for R1399 which is a pretty good price i think..

I have seen the Wharfedale's, but then i would need a 4 ohm capable amp, as the small sony is only 8ohm. i am trying to stick to a 2 channel system to keep it simple.

Small, simple, but good sounding system

Good day all, I am a Focal lover, but for my needs, its too expensive. I am looking at a small system, to sound loud and clear, but pretty flat through the spectrum. I have found a nice small Sony STR-DH130 receiver / amp for R1500 odd, which i think will be a good start. however, im looking...
