    CDs

A fellow I met has his CDs in several bookshelves. He sorts them by spine colour. Most DG labels are yellow, EMI are white with a red block, Archiv are silver and so on He has had this system for so long it works for him. There must be 3000 CDs

I also thought so, and so did Serge and other music-lovers. The late forum member Croak (Guilluame Lemaire) said removing a computer out of the circuit would be a breath of fresh air. He was right. The first device I tried was a Lindemann Limestone Bridge. It worked just as Guillame said it...

    CDs

A computer is not the ideal music reproduction unit. Especially the built in sound chip in most computers. That is going backwards I abandoned a laptop some years ago and have a hard disc attached to a Lumin U2. This is then connected to a decent DAC. The results are far more satisfying

Using dbPower amp, copy them to a hard drive and use JRiver to organise the collection for you. I use a 4Tb SSD. JRiver costs $69.98 Did that for 4 people and it makes life much more convenient

    poe ethernet?

Don't buy the (mostly) rubbish LAN cable that TakeaLot sells. You only find out after cutting a length, fitting RJ45s that there is not continuity in one of the conductors. Its not all rubbish, but what you get from Scoop is good quality cable A Cat6 LAN cable was found to have 0,2mm...

    Age Census Update (poll)

My neighbour's son proudly told me he is 8-1/2 He thinks his granny must be well over 100 since she wears granny clothes and has large text on her phone (she is 66) He told his mom that I listen to music quite loud and it sounds funny

    poe ethernet?

They are most welcome to look at the rubbish I send and receive. 100 emails a day, 95 are spam or fake invoices. Then there is the twaddle I read and write on here, as well as other forums I don't know why people get so excited about security. If you follow common sense rules, it works ok

    poe ethernet?

This model requires a 12 volt 1 amp power supply You would need to get a PoE adaptor This one is quite cheap - https://www.hdcabling.co.za/product/single-port-poe-injector-12-volt-to-57-volt-gigabit-ethernet-1gb-s-for-routerboards-and-other-gigabit-poe-devices/

    poe ethernet?

Well, the voltage must match what the Access Point specifies Older Ubiquiti APs used 24 volts Newer models use 48 volts If you give me the make and model, I can look it up and as Equity says, does it operate with PoE or an external power socket

    Hi-Fi Mafia

I must apologise if my post mentioning a used Gryphon amp selling at what seemed to be a bargain price by my friend in Holland upset you. That wasn't the intention at all The amp, when I enquired, turned out to be 11 years old, hence the low price This fellow in Holland discounts everything...

    The Honey Controversy

Friend (somewhat niave) answered a "Free coupon" from Temu (that is what it said) Now he gets "Duty must be paid" and asks me what I thought. He was a bit put out when I told him it is a scam

    Hi-Fi Mafia

That does sound alarming. I see ePiphany quotes that price. I would be inclined to talk to them about it, pointing out what you find. Speak to Hein Vercuel It is not a bit like Apple products in SA? Cura are the agent/importers and add on their markup before iStore, etc sell the goods...

    Hi-Fi Mafia

Referring to post # 86 I don't think that applies. All of the local club members and people I know buy goods from South African retailers. Because we may buy used import items on occasion, this does not mean that the local retailers have been abandoned. That is stretching the reason given...
