I?ve had a request to build a sealed active subwoofer cabinet with gloss white finish for a forum member and would like to share this build with the forum.
Driver & Amp: Salvaged from a Wharfedale Powercube 12+
Material: 22mm MDF
Type: Sealed, Downward Firing
Volume: +/- 38l
In the past, I?ve built cabinets mostly using butt joints, but when it comes to gloss finishes, hiding seams can be a real challenge. This time round I?m going to attempt using lapped mitre joints all round. A little challenging with the tools I have available and requires accuracy when cutting, but does allow for assembly without fasteners.
Lapped mitre joint:
Basic cabinet idea with red and blue bracing:
For anyone interested, cabinet design was done using https://subbox.pro The final panel sizes will be cut to the max external dimensions as we are going to be using lapped mitre joints. The bracing we?ll work out as we go along
