3 Channel Stereo

So I was reading that P.W. Klipsch really was into 3 channel stereo.

Apparently it seems to help with the imaging, as it keeps the vocalists' voice in the centre channel.

Would it be possible to convert 2 channel stereo to 3 channel stereo?
