So I've seen a few devices with this resolution setting (ie Xiaomi Mi S) and was wondering what it was, practically.
I've tried reading up and see the SMPTE stands for Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers and what it does it proper 4K resolution (4,096 x 2,160) as opposed to UHD. If I have this right - what practical use is this ?
None of consumer stuff do 4K resolution (let alone the content) - and I'm almost sure IMAX won't be using an Android box and Kodi?
Is there something else that this could be for?
