This morning I changed the oil on my bike (Honda 250 twister) and put everything back as per normal. Start it up and let the oil cycle a bit.. and then noticed a leak on the oil filter cover. No problem I thought (seeing as I normally under-tighten bolts so as not to strip them) and proceeded to give it a tiny more turn... and it lets go and just turns round and round. Took it out and this is the result. :headbanger:
Metal in the threads so seems like my housing is stripped
Luckily I had a tap and die set so retapped it a bit deeper in (the hole was longer than the existing bolt) and used a slightly longer bolt which seems to have done the trick... for now.
What are my options long term... will drill bigger / tap / use thicker bolt be ok or woud I need to bite the bullet and replace the housing? :ticked:
