My aged Briggs & Stratton 3.5 mower cut out a few weeks ago. I know the drill. Dirt in the carb. I sat on the lawn with the tools, removed the carb & float bowl. Sprayed compressed air into all the galleries and openings and put it all back. Still no life. Repeated the exercise without any luck.
My wife took it in to George Lawnmowers & Chainsaws in George. She just informed me that they cleaned the carb and I must pay them R580,00.
This has happened often and one of the tecnicians told me that they just drop the carb in an acid bath for a few minutes to clear out the dust or grass which got past the filters.
Any idea what acid they use ? I'm quite comfortable removing the seals etc from the part, tying a piece of wire to it and lowering it into a jar of acid. What would one use to rinse it off afterwards ?
With all the carb cleans over the last few years I could have bought half a new mower
