Hi,

I'm looking to put together my first stereo hi-fi setup - for my bedroom (about 3.5m x 4.5m).

My current setup consists of:
1. A powered 2.1 system (If I recall correctly 40 wpc and a 80w sub - purports to be Acoustic Research, but I can't find any info about it online)
2. A desktop PC with onboard sound (has optical out).
3. An inherited Thorens TD147 turntable with a P77 A&R Cambridge cartridge and (thanks to my father's forethought) a spare from Ortofon
4. A crappy generic R250.00 phono pre-amp
5. A really awful R50.00 RCA input selector (3 stereo ins 1 out)

I listen to a wide variety of music (pop, electronic, indie rock, jazz but not classical). Most of the music is 320kbps mp3 though I have quite a bit of lossless audio (flac) and a bit of vinyl that I'd like to add more to.

I thought I would get an integrated amp with a phono stage, a DAC (as part of the amp or separately) and a pair of bookshelf speakers

Though I don't have a particular budget in mind (dangerous I know  :giggle:) I don't really want to spend too much more than R10k total.

So I'm looking for ideas for a nice integrated amp with a phono stage, a DAC and a pair of speakers. Should I buy new or second hand or a mix of the two. I have looked online at the the Rotel RA-11 - appealing because of the phono stage and integrated DAC and the Monitor Audio Bronze BX2 (though I'm not sure these would work together - from what I've read they're both on the bright end of the spectrum)

Any thoughts would be appreciated.
