I'm in the market for a turntable, but also need to get a set of speakers and an amp. I wish I could say that money is not an object, but alas, it is.
I've got a maximum budget of R10k-15k to work from and it should cover everything to get me started. I can invest some more cash every 3-4 months as overtime money accrues. I've been reading up a lot and I'm interested in a good mid-range TT. mafioso has kindly offered a Garrard 301 at a good price, but it'll need repairs, something that I don't want to get involved in now. baz offered a Stanton T 120c, brand new for R4,000, but it looks like it might be suited to DJ'ing, something that I won't be doing.
I can get a very nice Garrard 401 for around R9,000. This doesn't leave much cash for speakers and an amp though. Would I be stupid to go for such an expensive TT seeing that I'm just starting out? Do you guys think something like a Project Debut Carbon / Rega RP-1 would be a better buy? :thinking:
