Hi fellow audiophiles
Restoring a JP601 for a buddy and noticed that its single ball bearing is missing at the bottom of the spindle. Cannot find much info on this deck. The diameter of the hollow on the spindle is 3.975mm(~4mm) I have read that a smaller ball (in this case a 3.18mm) in a slightly larger hollow is the way to do this. What size of ball is supposed to be in here? The teflon thrust washer is still ok with a slight indentation. Also...what type of ball do I get? Ceramic is 10x harder than steel which I worry would do the spindle in over time, then theres carbide, nirtide, and ruby sapphire and zirconia balls..shew. Do I just get a standard steel ball from a bearing shop? Where can I get replacement thrust washers?..another maze here with delrin, teflon etc. It has a square profile belt..is this the right part..can I use a round profile belt here?
Thanks for reading and have a great day!
