Advice needed: using a HDMI splitter/extractor to extract digital audio?

I have a dedicated TV surround system, and a dedicated stereo system, in the same location. The wife loves it!


1. I have a Chromecast Ultra feeding (via HDMI) into my surround amp for TV.

2. I have a Chromecast Audio feeding (via optical) into my DAC, into my stereo amp, for music, (Tidal HiFi).


Could I use the below mentioned HDMI splitter between the Chromecast Ultra and my surround amp, to feed optical audio into my DAC?
I could then use the Chromcast Audio elsewhere. like in the garage.

Would it work adequately?
