Hi guys
Needing some advice from the more experienced sellers on the forum.
This does not involve a forum member as far as I am aware, although during a telephone conversation I might have p!$$3d a member off, not sure though as I do not know him.
Okay, this is what happened.
I had my Thorens TD2015 for sale, which I bought from Andre, lovely machine. It was sold, I clearly stated on email to the buyer that courier is his cost and risk. I took photos of the packing process. I even recorded 4 video clips of the table playing before I packed it. I did inadvertently pack the wrong powercord, which I replaced the same day he phoned me to complain about it.
When he received the table he unpacked it and put on a LP.
He phoned me and said the arm does not lift when reaching the end of the LP, I tried to explain to him to loosen the grubscrew and raise the armlift, as this might have moved slightly during transport.
Now over the weekend, 2 weeks later, (and this is where I think the forum member got the brunt of my irritation) Dewald assisted him in setting up the table. He informed me that the armlift was cracked and a bearing collapsed?
This is where Dewald if we had the conversation, just reply here as I would like to phone you and personally apologize for my tone.
Clearly the table was fully functioning when it left me. This purchaser now threatens me with legal action if I do not pay for all repairs or fully refund him.
Further info, initially the purchaser wanted me to drop the table of at a friend in Cape Town who would check it into luggage as he was flying up to Joburg the evening, which I suggested is a bad idea.
What do I do? I did offer a certain amount towards any repairs as goodwill, but he then informed me that he will proceed with legal action unless I meet one of his demands. He also then pointed out that unless there is proof that the photos etc were indeed taken by me before shipping to him, he is not interested.
To me it sounds like he did some damage and now wants to throw all blame in my direction, making me out to have taken him for a ride and sold him a broken turntable.
Now I have sold a few items on the forum and have never had an issue with any sale.
Thanks for any advice.
