Any of the Japanese 1 tonners are well made, Toyota have the best resale (for good reason), but for the light work you are describing a Nissan NP300 is a good bet (and well priced), just pretty old safety technology, and smaller than the newer bakkies.1 tonners are designed as work horses, where as the front wheel drive 1/2 tonners are basically modified hatchbacks, so are obviously not as robust. Not an issue for light work and a bit of looking after.Keep in mind that a double cab with a proper over cab rack, for the work you are describing is actually more useful And it solves the seating problem. Could also double as a personal vehicle for a small business owner. The racks come off easily for holidays etc.
