Advice on cleaning a lid.

Hi everyone and Happy New year.
I have a Linn Axis lid here that has some brown packaging tape residue on it. It was in storage for years and so it's really glued on.
I need a mild solvent to get it off that obviously won't damage the lid.
Any suggestions ?
