As per title I am looking for general advice on building 8" 2-way (8" woofer with tweeter) bookshelf speakers. To be more specific, below are the points I would appreciate advice on:

Disclaimer: I am a noob, so please excuse the laymen terms.

Desired sound: The type of music I listen to (mostly) has quite a lot of bass, therefore the speakers should not be shy with producing nice low end bass. I have heard the Tannoy Reveal 802 active monitors and the amount of bass they put out is about what I'm talking about. It obviously has to not sound muddy or boomy either and be clear and crisp in the mids and highs. Basically it should sound like a good audiophile speaker but with really good low end bass - hence why I think 8" is a good woofer size.

Enclosure: Bookshelf 2 way ported enclosure is what I would like, preferably a slotted enclosure as per picture below:

I have good contacts for building a cabinet, so I'm not too worried about that, however any comments will be appreciated.

Drivers: This is the hard part so far for me, I'm struggling to source anything locally - help with this will greatly be appreciated. If there is nothing available locally, would it be a good idea to use http://www.parts-express.com for the drivers and then http://www.postbox-courier.com for delivery? A woofer like this: http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-dc200-8-8-classic-woofer--295-310 with a tweeter like this: http://www.parts-express.com/dayton-audio-dc28f-8-1-1-8-silk-dome-tweeter--275-070 is what I have in mind.

Crossover: Anything which will work well with the woofer and tweeter will do.

Budget: I would prefer not to pay much more than +/- R2500 for the drivers and crossovers.

Thats pretty much it - thank you :2thumbs:
