Let us for a moment imagine, an individual with a 5.1 speaker setup running into an AVR as well as a separate stereo setup in another room that consists of stereo speakers, integrated amp + power amp with turntable as source.
Now let?s imagine that this individual is making plans to emigrate to another country to which space will more than likely be a sacrifice (in terms of rooms, size of abode etc).
For the sake of argument most other options have been considered.
Such as downsizing, selling the 5.1 & only traveling with stereo setup, records & turntable. Further downsizing considered sell all barring record collection & turntable & purchasing all upon arrival in new foreign country although liquidity with weakness of current currency is a large factor & being able to afford new/second hand for a longtime another factor. The cost of freight is not unviable, nor is the cost of storage should space be a factor upon arrival for a while.
As mentioned for the sake of argument most factors have been considered...
With all this in mind.
Is there a way to essentially consolidate 2 x sets of pretty great front speakers (L&R) into 1 fantastic set, & using that fantastic set of L&R in both the 5.1 when required and also as the basis of a stereo setup? To potentially minimize having to take 2 sets of floorstanders?
Is it possible to keep the stereo amp/power amp/phono/tt separate & excluded from the AVR yet still sharing the same L&R speakers? Without having to pull speaker cables each time?
I?m trying to ascertain if it?s possible or how best to try & combine 2 systems into 1 (other than using all via the AVR & getting rid of the integrated & stereo power amp) as I believe the stereo system delivers superior stereo listening experience.
Appreciate any ideas forthcoming
