Good day all.

I currently have a 5.1 setup ,used exclusively for movies and tv. The problem is I received a TV display for free that is unfortunately too large to allow the placement of the tower (floorstanding) front speakers that I currently have.

Due to the wife factor I cannot remove the offending tv unit. So I am stuck with either having one speaker standing on the cupboard and the other on the floor or replacing the whole 5.1 setup.

Was thinking soundbar, but would prefer an actual 5.1 setup and not a virtual setup (irrespective on how good it sounds, I want real bacon and not macon ) and it seems as if the only soundbars I have heard and seen don't need the receiver at all.

My receiver is an Onkyo 509 with the speakers being JVC. Speakers are now about 12 to 13 years old and still do a damn good job considering what I paid for them.

Any suggestions on what I can replace them with. Budget is in all likely hood between R 5000 to R8000. Secondhand is fine, but my knowledge is severely lacking in what would be the best buy for the budget and what would go well with the receiver.

Would not a subwoofer as the one I have performs adequately.
Main source of content is Netflix, Plex (through the Xbox 360) and Bluray player.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
