A post from a vinyl site on Facebook- "Inner groove distortion and issues with pops & clicks (surface noise) are almost certain due to one or more of the following:
1.: Cheap low-end cartridge/stylus with eliptical or conical shape
2.: Worn down cartridge/stylus
3.: Misallignments of overhang, VTA, SRA, VTF, Azimuth, Zenith, Antiskate
4.: Dirt in the groove
5.: LP suffering from spinned to much under circumstances as above"
