At part of the Amateur Telescope Makers (ATM), we use old vinyl records for out telescopes in many ways, mostly as the azimuth (holizontal) bearing, but also as light shields. Every telescope we construct has at least one record in.

Before 'returning' back to playing vunal records, I used any old record in my collectionn for a telescope, but now I pick the records more carefully. Most of the of my telescopes runs on late 80's Pop Shop vinal.
