Amp upgrade

Hi All,

I have been playing around with the idea to go mono on my system for some time and was wondering what the real benefits are as opposed to being more expensive,more heat and higher electricity consumption.I currently run B&W 805's with a Yamaha RXV-863 as pre and a Rotel RB1582 power amp(200w/channel).Any suggestions on going to monoblocks will be greatly appreciated.
