I am sure many folks on this forum are familiar with the music of Carlos Santana - I grew up on a steady diet of music from the 70's played by my older siblings and it included his music as well as Chicago, Blood Sweat and Tears, Cream, Pink Floyd, Traffic etc etc. This musician made a big impact on me and I love his music till this day - his old stuff and all the evolved stuff done with younger musicians and new sounds that electronics make possible - so a ticket to his Cape Town concert was a must and I managed to get some tickets, but just ...
I was online at 09h05 (computicket opens @ 09h00) but got some very limited options for both nights. Only very few tickets available as best choice and my preference all sold out. Rushed to computicket outlet and got there about 09h25 - just managed to get some tickets that are in a OK part of the auditorium and cost just below (R60 per person less) the most expnsive area (sold out needless to say). The rest of the auditorium sold out except for a few seats on the side of the stage and some of the ramp areas on one side only
My question - is this really so (I know he is hugely popular and folks have been waiting for this concert for years) - do the tickets sell that fast? The two shows were sold out in an hour if computicket is to be believed. maybe I am missing something. Do we have other online ticket outlets in SA (feeling really stupid to ask this question) and do they have different hours? This show was only supposed to open for booking at 09h00 today. By 09h15 all the best and the cheapest and 90 % of the in between seats were spoken for - not sure how this works but a bit difficult for me to comprehend. Maybe some opinions, experiences and explanations from fellow forumites?
Just so glad I managed to get seats - would not want to miss it for anything. I can just see the old CD's hitting the shleves again and not to mention the 180g special pressings at almost the price of a ticket being put up for sale over the christmas period: show is on 25,26 February 2014 at Grand Arena, Grand West complex. Hope its going to live up to the high expectations.
