Away with boring black
Away with monotone cloth
A 15 minute browse in Fabric World this morning found this acrylic material knocked down to R40 per metre. Only 80cm wide, so I bought 5 metres
The grille frame is attached to the speaker frame using velcro, a system I don't like as it is not positive and smacks of cheap
20 mins back home with a Box cutter (Stanley knife) cut off the boring old black and the dust that went with it. A scrape of a plane removed the glue residue
Matched up the pattern to achieve something fairly uniform
Used some cable glue (used for sticking alarm cables to walls)
Ran glue along the back edge, wait 1 minute and fold over the material
Press the corners with a hot iron which flattens the material
Next week to get some decorative fittings to attach the grille frames to the speaker frame in a positive manner
Ok yes, these are Eminent Technology LFt-8bs. Artwork mainly from charity shops (pics of old Cape Town and Amsterdam in 1670)
I hope the gent that sold them to me is not too appalled
Wife's comment: "It does not match the carpet"
