So I finally received my Sound Structure wall mount for my Linn... (photos and opinions will follow soon, but I can say in the meantime that Hein did an amazing job, and it looks great).
But now in the bitterest of ironies, the interconnects between my phono and pre-amp are too short. So at this stage I can't actually hear what difference the wall mount makes!
So now it's back to that age-old question... which (2m) interconnect to use?
The rest of the system is now finally all matched in terms of quality of components, from the Linn, to Rudi's phono, pre and power (all his top of range Geco stuff) to the ZRT Towers. So from what I read on the interweb, it should be getting to the level where ICs will make an audible difference (hearing permitting...).
And how much does it matter if the cables are all different? Up to this point, I was using a short pair of Synergistic Research Alpha Sterlings between phono and pre, a short pair of Madrigal CZ Gel-2's between the pre and power (both bought 2nd hand at great prices), and then some of Ian's speaker cable to the speakers. And where is the best place to use the best cable? I guess it's moot, since the Madrigals can only really be used between the pre and power, because of their length.
I have a 2m pair of Monster entry-level cables (I think they're StudioLink or something), and I just wasn't inspired to connect them up. Or should I...? I've read amazing reviews of the AQ King Cobra's, or is that just snake oil? And how are they vs. the Copperheads?
I guess A/B testing is best, but I'd much rather sit and listen to music than digging around with cable connections on my knees. So a well informed "finish and klaar" shopping expedition would be preferred.
Any suggestions?
