Angle at which equipment is mounted or stands

Could AV processors be mounted at any angle? maybe point directly down from a ceiling or must they stand "flat" on a rack? The only problem I can think of is ventilation.

What about DAC's ? any angle? on their sides?

And SS amplifiers?
