There is a forum member who has done more for me and my hobby than anyone else on the earth.
This member trusted me with some of his best and crazy expensive kit in order to educate me in the appreciation of music and the reproduction thereof. As an example, he let me borrow (to be used in my house) a pair of Tannoy D-900 speakers, a pair of Quad 2905's, a Hovland HP100 pre, an ARC LS 5 pre, a pair of "Monsoon" valve amps and the list goes on, he even once offered to lend me his much loved Krell monster amp, but not being able to fit it into the boot or any place in my car, it is that big, I was forced to decline that generous offer. Imagine what a 1000 watt per channel can sound like in your own house if the extent of your amplifier budget has been a used Dynaco 200 watter?
This member has been, and still is, the first person to invite anyone interested in audio or video into his house to hear what he has,not to boast with his kit, but to guide the person on the road to the best equipment available for his budget.
On this forum he has contributed some of the most interesting threads, with some members getting their feathers ruffled, but he has never stated that his take on any subject is correct and all others are wrong. His experience with products is such that he is not biased in any direction. As an example his beloved Krell and Tannoy Kingdoms are not considered, in his opinion, the ultimate system. Just the other day he mentioned that Schalks mono block amps have a decidedly stronger bass than his Krell and that if finances were more favourable he might be buying a pair of those.
A better friend I have yet to meet and a more congenial hifi host I have not encountered.
Many of us have met him and enjoyed his hospitality, I feel a medal for the most passionate audiophile (because he really loves good music) should go to our forum member FRANCOIS.
