Hi Guys,
Ok, so its about time I posted this, but progress has been rather slow working alone and on weekends. Nevertheless, I have now got a portion of my HT system setup (Sub added since, but rears still to be mounted). This room is 4.5m wide (excluding the entrance) by 4.1m deep. It is supposed to be a master bedroom, but a bachelor has to prioritise right? I was silly not to take full before pictures, but too eager to get started with this project.
Built in cupboards removed (relocated to another bedroom)
Walls and ceilings made good. This was not fun! "Standard" colour did not match up, so the entire rear wall was repainted. I am thinking of going with a mid grey throught the whole rroom, but don't want the room to end up feeling too small. The TV point is behind the couches, where the cupboards used to be, so I still need to reroute that, as well as wire the surround speakers. I will go through the ceiling. I have limited room between the couch and rear wall (approx 25cm from back of couch).
Front stage setup. I still need to play with speaker positioning, but the echo is quite bad at the moment. Looking for advise on where to prioritise room treatment. Will be starting with a large thick rug though. The sub sits in between the TV stand and the left hand side speaker.
Now for the rears......as you can see I'm limited to positioning options, and I don't think the width of the couch helps (3.7m wide at its widest points, which in turn, it means the fronts are quite far apart, and close to the wall on the right hand side). I was thinking of the rears at the far corners, above the blinds (rear right) and door (rear left), and the surround back as Dipoles (still hunting for these) between the main two center seats. Any input on this placement?
I will be looking at bass traps in the front corners, as well as the rear right, but the rear left poses a problem, as the door is there. I can do one corner, and looking at treating the back of the door. will this suffice? In the meantime I have 9 rolls of 135mm thick Aerolite I need to get into the ceiling.
Thanks in advance
