Any Gonzalo Rubalcaba Fans Here ?
I have a good few of this piano maestro's cds and have just received a couple more, among other cds I purchased from the states, and am blown away by a 2008 release - " Avatar".
The music is fantastic, the musicians all of them stunning in their own right and the recording as per usual done by Jim Anderson, whom never disappoints. Besides Rubalcaba, I am very impressed with the rhythm section of drummer, Marcus Gilmore whom is in the class of Ignacio Berroa and Manu Katch? , and bassist, Matt Brewer; the horn section of Yosvany Terry (saxes) and Mike Rodriquez ( trumpet, flugelhorn ). Each of theses individuals have full control of their instruments and the tones, colours, their reach up & down the registers, etc, are not only beautiful to listen to but leaves you amazed at how in tune they are with each other, and tight, tight tight!
Inspiring, toe tapping & heart warming jazz music. A great buy!
