After 19 years of faithful service, our Panasonic Genius went out with a bang. Literally. When the start button was pressed, there was a flash and a bang of sorts inside and the power tripped. When we restored the power, it would no longer turn on. The fancy display stays blank, meaning that is properly cooked.
Does anybody here care to guess what happened? Me thinks the power supply is dead but I haven't opened it up. Not that I feel like having a go. There are dangerous things and voltages in there. I am prepared to cut my losses on this one and get a new one. The thing gave good service, even if weseldom never used the fancy convection feature. :facepalm:
Is it worth scavenging the thing for parts before I throw it out? There must be a pretty big transformer in there but the secondary voltages are probably all wrong. I can remember once reading about building a welder using a few microwave trafos in parallel, therefore I ask the question. leasant:
