Not sure if anyone has bought the new Apple TV 4k (6th gen)?
I own both the 5th and 6th gen and I must say the new remote is a massive improvement over the 5th gen design.
Below is the 5th and 6th gen remotes side by side:
The 6th gen one is also almost 3 times as thick as the 5th gen model and feels really substantial:
My biggest gripe with the 5th gen remote was the fact that it was touch only. Both the top and bottom of the remote is smooth (only the top is the touch pad) and in the dark, I often tried to use the remote without it responding to discover that I have it upside down. I ended up buying this silicon cover from Amazon to prevent that issue.
This is a great improvement and well worth considering if you are a 5th gen Apple TV user.
You can buy the remote on its own for around R1000 and it is compatible with the 5th gen Apple TV.
