Found this an interesting test, I split my system and am now running a dedicated stereo set up (spend time in this room now every day, simply forgot how much I love listening to music)
I wanted the system to simple yet convenient so streaming is way I decided to go but the source and amp is not network enabled(Nad 208 and Nad m51 dac/pre) so I manage to figure out how to screen share to my apple TV and used this in the room running into the dac..
I had already ordered the older non 4k Chromecast as I wasnt sure I could do what I was doing with the apple TV so it arrived..........
So I set the unit up and and then tested the two back to back on audio only. These two units are both previous gen and compete with each other in the market. The Apple when bought was I think close to R3k and the chromecast R1k
Its worth mentioning that all my stuff is apple so I haven't really had any android or other experience.
So first off the caster has solved probable my bigest issue in that you can play music and then still take a call on your phone and the whole house doesnt have to listen to my conversation through the Martin logins...... I can sit and listen and at the same time view a social media clip on my phone without interrupting the casting or again heaven forbid get caught out by a screaming Asian woman.....
so functionality wise in this way caster 10 points ahead and then the quality of sound........
Simply can not compare the two, the caster is simply at a different level, sound like the difference between R2k source and a R20k source and im playing from the same youtube music on both only change is the "streamer"
I know this is only stereo but wow best R1k I have spent in a long time and it fits in beautifully with other kit that is significantly more expensive.
