I would like to get a SFA. It will be used for a combination of tar road and off road travel (but not advanced 4x4).
I'm not much of a car enthusiast, accordingly I lack knowledge and would appreciate advice and/or comments from the experienced.
Many of them are modified, such as having KZ-TE or Lexus V8 motors, aftermarket suspension, spot lights, 4X4 bumpers, suspension lifts, etc. Are there rules of thumb on what to avoid here?
Does such a thing as the model to get in the various models/years exist or are they all good and one just needs to pick your preference between petrol and diesel?

If you're an SFA enthusiast, but don't wish to type out tedious messages on the forum, l'll buy you a few beers or have a braai for a talk. Alternatively I would also be happy if I could run a potential purchase past someone with expertise just to confirm that I am not making a mistake or overpaying for instance. I do have a friend who is a competent mechanic that I take with before purchase to inspect the bakkie too.
