I made an observation that I head, I repeat HEAD a CD player/TT/AMP/ Preamp sound BETTER (Note not different) than model x
I am told its
1) Placebo effect only - ok, do I need to see a shrink for this ? :goofy:
2) It has to be volume matched - for fff sake, crap at 3,4,5 or 10 on the volume setting is still crap ? Or can I not decern crap and pap ? :tongue:
3) A new conspiracy - confirmation bias - (please 2wice Im NOT critisizing you, its just an example of a legion of biases ). I am biased - Emmmm why would I be biased ? Brand ? NO, Price NO, what then ? Because I own it ? Hell No
4) the "setup" - Ok Ill run with this a little. Maybe I have to "tune" the system until the amp/cd/tt "fits" nicely ? :thinking:
5) Incompatibility - Ok YES, reasonable suggestion :thumbs:
6) A psychological effect that I desire this or that piece to sound better - I definitely need a shrink then. Obviously a 3rd force is directing my actions :baseball:
7) Its subjective - Agreed - thus I search for LIKE minded (eared) individuals to confirm my subjectivity :clap:
8) Im hearing things.... :angrywife: Ok maybe. If more than one confirms then surely not ? Why would I LIE ? to get another's approval ? Admiration ? ffff NO.
9) To impress you - HUH ? Why would I talk crap to impress you ? Im average ? I dont have golden ears ? Or hands, or anything
10) To make you feel good about your system. NO! You asked my opinion. If I can evaluate the system quality based on your outlay, room, media and equipment, I would LOVE to discuss it! This goes for any piece of equipment - YES including cables.
I have seen some serious fallouts on the forum, today too - and Im feeling guilty for bringing the conversation up.
Its only my opinion that I am expressing ? MY opinion ?
Or am I conversing with you ALL, asking if any of you heard the same ?
Have you had the same experience ?
