Some years ago I built a pair of Tannoy Kingdom Royal replicas, HE speakers, Beyma 15P80 drivers (I think 102dB) in a 210l bass reflex enclosure and 15 inch Tannoy Monitor Golds in a sealed 47l enclosure inside. When my ears stopped bleeding a year later I disconnected the Tannoy compression driver and added a Beyma CP12/f HF unit (with the internal structure fixed with epoxy). I EQ-ed the snot out of the big beymas until they confessed that they were woofers. Biamped, no crossover to the HF unit beyond a cap. For some stuff (ANY kind of drum, acoustic guitar, saxophone, voice) they sounded unbelievable, better than anything I've heard before or since. But I couldn't get them right to deliver a wide variety of music, so I eventually disassembled them and sold the bits. I still miss Antonio Forcione and Men at Work and Jade Warrior heard with my garage doors open, and me standing on the other side of the street.
