A while back I got one of these at a bargain price (so I thought)

Sooooo it seems that the speakers have a problem, lots of information on it on the web, they start hissing. Feels like I'm getting attacked by a puffadder listening to them. Actually, two puffadders. One to my left, and one to my right.
So it seems the speakers can retire to the dustbin. But can I still use the little amp that came with it? It's rated at 25W+25W, but I'm not sure what sensitivity the speakers are, might be 4ohm.
An amp is an amp, right? Kinda......?
