Three things that bugged me.
1) When I toe them in I get "gating" soft and loud sweet spots
2) Image not perfectly in the centre.
3) My Kingdoms now standing "oudside" sounded k@k
So I toed them out "flat" i.e. playing out parallel to my ears. Big sweet spot, less focus. very acceptable but not right. Me and Joel toed them so many times behind each others back
So let me start. I am a "greenie" in room placement and treatment but I stuffed up.
NOBODY pick up the obvious f-up!! And did I have "experts" there  :walled: :BWAHAHAH: ) I was too damn happy and "horny" to notice... until I went and listened to the Zero's which I set up 100% )
And everybody critsized the electronics :ticked:
This got me thinking.... let me start at the beginning. Try all my amps and preamps..... no good improvement. Even changed source. Then: Thanx Johnny Rotten - I remembered how you "tuned the Kingdoms in!! :notworthy:
Rule number 1: TRIANGLE ? With the speakers almost 3 m appart and me sitting 4.3m away ..... mmmmm I was being a "box" using my 1.8m cables :comfort: :comfort: In fact they should move out another 300mm apart (but note the shortage of cable :vsad: )
Rule Number 2: Toe them in precisely - to your head... these dont want to go past or cross in front of you
Rule number 3: Space behind your head
So what happened ?
1) Perfect solid image in the middle. Vibrant focus. How the hell did I not get bothered by it being missing ? Because they are so revealing you marvel at everything else.
2) A slightly better topend. It is as if the tops dont get "amplified" but them being so close to each other!
3) They have quiet passages that astonish me.... almost like that anticipation before the first drop in a roller coaster!
4) The bass didnt change. It is slightly less loose if I may put it that way. Ill listen more
CONCLUSION:
Experts - Ja ok, we are all experts. Some are just wind blowing through a horn
When ten's of scribes say a speaker is good, dammit try your best to set them up correctly and you WILL be rewarded
Listen to the wise men of audio (Thanx Alan Hobkirk, Valvaglo, Achim)... there is truth in the advice you gave!!
I learnt a valuable lesson: Put your passion and excitement away, do the basics right and ONLY THEN sit back and listen!
They ARE AMAZING!! Yes I prefer them currently to my Kingdoms... :'( :'(
