Backing up old cellphone

I must upgrade my contract and would like a new phone, but do not want to loose any WhatsApp chats. From 2019 I've lost family members and do not want to delete our WhatsApp chats and SMS's for now. I'm a bit sentimental
I'm going from Samsung to Samsung. J4 to A71 if that matters.
What is the most simple way to transfer all WhatsApp chats and SMS's from my J4 to my new A71?
